For many years, Christian worked in the retail sector until he decided to take a change in direction. He joined our butchery team in 2011 and became a trained butcher. With his skills and knowledge he was soon promoted to Meat Buyer.
His eye for quality, understanding seasonal availability, customer demands and ensuring value for money, soon seen Christian promoted to Meat Purchasing Manager.

Each week, he predicts the demand for cattle, lamb and pork. He liaises with suppliers, the local auction and abattoir to order enough cuts for the week. Our butchery supplies not only our foodservice customers but our foodstore customers too, and each has differing needs. Balancing each customers’ needs takes care and precision.

Nothing stands still for long and I’ll always be looking to develop our butchery and meat offering. I’ll be very happy to stay at Pioneer – I’m not going anywhere!”
