We celebrate dedicated service
We recently rewarded all our people who have worked for us for 10 years and over. Many of them were celebrating over 20, 30 and even 40 years of service!
Our new scheme involves a voucher reward and holiday enhancement, dependent upon length of service. Those celebrating working for 10 years and over qualify for the benefits.
Pictured above are just some of our Carlisle colleagues who received the benefit this year. There were many people at both our Gateshead and Harrington depots who were celebrating too.
In fact, a total of 99 of our colleagues received a long-service award this year!
John Nee, Factory Manager, is our longest serving colleague with an amazing 43 years’ service.
He left school at 16 and immediately started a job with Pioneer. He helped our drivers deliver customer orders and then went on to become an apprentice butcher. He then moved to our foodstore to help and advise our customers on their meat purchases. In 1993, John was promoted to factory manager where he oversees the general day-to-day running of our butchery.
Phil Jamieson, Meat Production Assembler, is also celebrating over 40 years, with a grand total of 42 years.
He started working for us straight from school at the age of 16 at our Fisher Street store, initially undertaking a time-served apprenticeship until he became a fully-qualified butcher.
He worked there for 19 years. Highly skilled and knowledgeable, Phil then worked at our Rosehill Foodstore for another 19 years behind the butchery counter. After a decision to move from retail, Phil now works in our butchery using his expertise and knowledge to provide high quality produce to our foodstore and foodservice customers.
Phil says:
“It’s great to be recognised for your commitment and to feel you’re appreciated. A gesture such as this just reinforces how Pioneer Foodservice feels about those who work hard and show passion for their work long-term.”
John commented: “I agree with Phil. I have always enjoyed working for this family business and have seen many amazing changes and growth over the years. I think this scheme acknowledges the drive and commitment all our colleagues show.”
Graham Jenkins, Managing Director, adds:
“We’re excited to be launching our new long-service awards scheme. Our people are at the heart of everything we are and do; their hard work and dedication to our business has always been appreciated. It’s great now to be able to honour and celebrate with a reward and recognition scheme.”
