Pioneer chairman Andrew Jenkins was honoured for his services to football at the recent North East Football Writers’ Association awards dinner. He was given the prestigious John Fotheringham Award for ‘extraordinary service’.
As well as his role at Pioneer, Andrew is chairman of Carlisle United Football Club and has been a director of the club for a remarkable 52 years. During that period he has seen the highs of the first division and the lows of the conference and has worked with such great players as Ivor Broadis and Peter Beardsley.
Previous recipients of the award include Sir Bobby Robson, Jack Charlton and Bob Moncur.
Andrew said “Its a real honour and great recognition for the club.” He is pictured with Carlisle United manager Greg Abbott at the awards which were held on 5th February at the Ramside Hall Hotel in Durham.
