Sausage sales raise an appealing amount!

Pioneer Foodstore | Hospice at Home | fundraising

During March, we held a special promotion on one of our favourite recipe sausages to help raise funds for Hospice at Home, Carlisle & North Lakeland.

We raised a grand total of £475 to help this worthy cause.

For every kilo of our special Pork & Marmalade Sausage sold, we vowed to donate £1 to the Carlisle-based charity. The sausages are a popular choice for our customers! They are made to our own Cumberland sausage recipe and laced with quality marmalade from Claire’s Handmade.

The initiative tied in with the World’s Original Dalemain Marmalade Awards which were held during March. The festival raises funds every year for Hospice at Home and we wanted to help with extra fundraising.

We have totted up the totals sold to both our foodservice and retail customers, then added a bit extra to bring the donation up to £475.

Several of the supporters and trustees of Hospice at Home meet up at our head office at Rosehill in Carlisle to take advantage of our meeting room facilities. At their meeting held on Monday 29th April, we met with them to present the cheque.

The cheque was presented to Josephine Hope, a volunteer for Hospice at Home, by David Jenkins, our sales director.

Josephine thanked the team on behalf of the charity, explaining the difference it would make, “We are extremely grateful to Pioneer Foods for their continued support of the charity.

“This money makes a big difference to Hospice at Home, allowing us to continue delivering vital care and support to adults, their families and carers who are coping with life-limiting illnesses. This will help our aim of providing More Care for More People. All of our services are free of charge to our patients, helping adults and their families achieve and cope with a dignified death at home. Every wonderful gift large or small will help us to ensure that a positive difference can be made to patients living with palliative and end of life care needs within Cumbria.”

We have supported the Hospice at Home charity for many years now and are proud to be fundraising for a cause which provides first-class services. As a family-run business, we understand the importance of such support which is given to those who require their services and we have friends, customers and colleagues who can vouch for the wonderful work of the hospice.
