Raising funds for two great Cumbrian charities.
On Friday 12th April 2024, we held our second charity fundraising event.
This time we raised funds in aid of two Cumbrian-based charities; Hospice at Home and Oak Tree Animals’ Charity.
The challenges …
We asked our colleagues to take part in a couple of demanding challenges.
In our foodstore, we held a hula hoop challenge. Overseen by representatives from Hospice at Home, we wanted to see who could hula hoop the longest. It started off badly … the brave had a go, but it was certainly a challenge! However, when Chloe Bell turned up she certainly showed us how it could be done! After six minutes, she proved she was a worthy winner and we let her stand down.
Outdoors and underneath a gazebo, representatives from Oaktree organised the skipping challenge. The task was to see who could complete the most turns of the rope in two minutes. Our IT guru, Keir McAleese proved to be a worthy sport, however Emelia Stewart (Junior Buyer) came along and her competitive spirit won!
Chloe won a voucher for £50 to spend in The Auctioneer and Emelia a voucher for the same amount to spend in our foodstore.
We hope you enjoy our short video!
Competitions and raffles …
We also held a raffle prize draw with colleagues winning a whole host of amazing prizes including a Dulce Gusto coffee machine donated by Nestle, hampers donated by us, Unilever, Sweet Moments and Oopsi Daisy Flowers.
A ‘Guess the length of the sausage’ competition was held to raise further funds. A member of staff and a customer won 600cm of everyone’s favourite tomato sausage!
We also encouraged colleagues to dress up in the charities’ colours. Cake were sold in our foodstore and desserts in The Auctioneer with proceeds being split between the two charities.
We will be announcing our grand total shortly.
